About Radka Korbelová

I specialise in family law, human rights and assistance to victims of crime, including domestic violence.

I graduated in 2001 from the Faculty of Law of Charles University, where I obtained my Ph.D. in 2012 with a doctoral thesis on the international obligations of the Czech Republic in the field of children’s rights. In 2011, I obtained mediation accreditation from the Czech Bar Association and the Brussels Bar Association.

I am active in the family law section of the Czech Bar Association, and I am a member of Pro Bono Aliance. I co-founded the Czech League of Human Rights and was a member of the Committee for the Rights of the Child of the Government Council of the Czech Republic. I completed a four-year self-experience training programme for helping professions as well as a number of victim assistance trainings.

I speak Czech, English and French.

Family Law

I offer a full range of family law services: I can help you get a dignified divorce, make child custody and visitation arrangements, settle spouses’ marital property, establish or deny paternity, or recover maintenance payments for a child, a wife or an unmarried mother. I have experience with adoptions, foster care and institutional care. In family matters, I prefer amicable solutions and consideration of the child’s best interests. Where agreement is not possible, I can draft the relevant petitions and accompany you to court. I approach my clients’ family problems with professionalism, but also empathy, as these are often very difficult life situations.

Representation of Crime Victims

I accompany victims in criminal proceedings as well as subsequent civil or administrative infraction proceedings. I have experience mainly with cases involving domestic violence, personal injury, and traffic accidents. I will help you, in your difficult life situation, to claim compensation for damage and non-material damage. I am listed in the Register of Providers of Assistance to Crime Victims.

Compensation of Damage and Non-Material Damage

I have long-term experience in asserting damage and non-material damage claims with insurance companies, in criminal proceedings and before courts. I will be happy to help you enforce your claims so that you can return to your normal life as soon as possible.

Human Rights

Throughout my practice, I have been dealing with human rights issues. I have represented my clients before international human rights bodies of the UN and the Council of Europe, as well as before the highest courts in the Czech Republic. Examples include cases before the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic (e.g. decisions I. ÚS 173/13-1 and I.ÚS 3226/16), the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic (under file no. 25 C do 348/2019 and 30 C do 3170/2009), and the European Court of Human Rights (Hanzelkovi vs. the Czech Republic, case no. 43643/10).

Criminal Law

I defend clients at all stages of criminal proceedings. I represent victims of crime, including children.

Price List

The price for legal services is determined primarily on the basis of an agreement between the lawyer and the client, or is governed by Decree No. 177/1996 Sb., of the Ministry of Justice, as amended. I usually charge an hourly rate. I always consider the specific situation of each client.

My standard rate ranges from CZK 1,900 to CZK 3,000 per hour, depending on the complexity of the case. I provide one-hour initial consultations to crime victims free of charge. In cases worthy of special consideration, I provide legal services for a reduced fee.
